Anna Stimson Photo Album
This album belonged to Anna Beatrice Stimson born 11 Nov 1892, daughter of Frank Barrett Stimpson & Emma Cornelius Craig. Anna's 1977-1979 correspondence says: When in 1863 there was an epidemic in New York City and my mother's mother, Mrs John Craig (Martha Jane Cornelius), and her baby sister became ill, my mother Emma Craig was sent to her grandparents home (William Cornelius & Rachel Williams) so that she would not catch the pneumonia. Her mother, father, and baby sister all died and so she remained living with her grandparents until they decided to take a trip back to South Wales to see their parents and friends. Rachael's mother (she actually means Rachel, not her mother) was very old and could not live much longer. My mother Emma Craig was taken to the home of her aunt Anne, Mrs William Beck (Anne Elizabeth Cornelius), to stay while they were away. They were never heard from again. No one knows if their ship was lost on the way over, or if they reached there & decided to stay awhile and died there, or if their ship was lost on the way home.
The beginning of 2016, the original album will be sent to New England Historic Genealogical Society, so I can’t provide you with the original.
